PROPOSED HOUSING DEVELOPMENT:As you know, Davidsons have re-submitted their planning application. This is not an Appeal against the previous rejection, so it has to be treated as a new application. Therefore everyone who wants to comment on the plans has to write again to Blaby District Council. The letters we wrote last time don't count but if you did write last time, you can simply send a copy of what you wrote, with a covering note, to Blaby District Council. |
The 'draft plan' as previously displayed.

WHAT NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED: Put your name and address at the top, then
write:
Dear Mr Wright
Planning Application for land at Willoughby Road, Countesthorpe Ref. No.
10/0331/1/OX
Then either put down your views in paragraphs OR as a list, points 1,2,3 etc.
What matters is writing all the issues that you, personally, are concerned
about and what it would mean to you and your family.
Write by 8 June to:-
Mr Nigel Wright

The plans in this new application have not changed at all except that they have
now included two roundabouts at the junctions of Station/Winchester Roads and
Winchester/Cosby Roads. The new application is because of a dispute about the
numbers of houses Blaby District Council is supposed to supply over the next 5
years. We are hoping that Davidsons will not win this dispute, as the housing
supply situation is now different because of recent changes.
In any case, regardless of numbers, we need to let Blaby District Council know
what we think about the plans in two ways:
- As allotment holders, as we wrote before (if you'd like a copy of the notes we circulated last time, just ask a Committee member), about the impact we fear on our safety and security and that of our crops and equipment, on our allotments site as a peaceful refuge and on the countryside environment bordering us and the village
- And now in these new letters, as Countesthorpe residents we also need to tell them about the impact all these new developments are likely to have on us as individuals plus our families, and on our village as a whole
Countesthorpe is being asked to absorb a huge influx of families - and their cars. Can our Health Services, Schools and Roads cope? We need to spell out our personal opinions and concerns. We hope that as many CGAS members plus their families, friends and neighbours as possible will write. Every letter counts! If people don't comment, it will seem as if we now accept the plans. If there were an Appeal later on, the Inspector would certainly compare the numbers of letters to see if people still felt as strongly. Letters have to be in by 8 June. You can send your comments in by email through the B.D.C. website. Details are on the Blaby District Council. Planning web pages. Make sure you include the Application Reference 10/0331/1/0X. EVERY LETTER COUNTS!
Note: What is not shown on the plans is access through Glebe drive. The Church's Land Agents are adamant that such access is a requirement for emergency vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, utilities and pipes. Davidsons' repesentatives denied all knowlege of any such requirement but close inspection of Display Board 1 finds the sentence "Pedestrian/cycle links to Willoughby Road connecting to the village centre". At first sight this looks like it means pedestrians and cyclists will have access to Willoghby Road from where they can access the Centre via Cosby/Station Road. Well of course they would have access that way; it's the road access to the estate. Reflection on this and the Land agent's assertions give rise to the only possble interpretation; that there is to be another link between Willoughby Road and the Centre i.e. across the current hay field and along Glebe Drive.
